Concept Map

           https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3JO47Ujpg4pTUpwWHdURnhnQjA/edit

Kidspiration 2 is a great program for planning out any type of map for your students. I enjoyed using this Kidspiration 2 program to make my concept map. I learned how to make a concept map, add a links, add pictures, and many other things. I will definitely use this program in my classroom when I become a teacher. I think it is a very beneficial program. I will have my students use this program to make different concept maps on different topics we are studying in class, so I know that they know what I have taught. This program will give my students the opportunity to see how to make a concept map and see what all is involved in what they are studying. If I do not have my students make a concept map, then I will make a concept map for them. I believe the NETS-T Standard "Design and Develop Digital Learning Experiences and Assessments" is the standard this assignment falls under. The reason I think this is the standard for a concept map is because it lets the teacher customize a concept map for the students using technology, and then gives the students the opportunity to be able to create a concept map of their own using the same technology their teacher used.

My Thoughts on NETS-T:

After reading over the five NETS-T standards, I learned a lot of new things. Here are my thoughts on each one of the five NETS-T standards. On the first NETS-T standard, I think it it great that, as teachers, we have to bring out the creative side of our students. Each student should be challenged to use their creativity and learning skills in many different environments. As teachers, we have to be there to push them and encourage them to use this creative side in everyday life. On the second NETS-T standard, as a preservice teacher, I think each student should have to express to us what is the best way they learn. It is very helpful to know how a student learns, that way we, the teachers, are able to accommodate each child's learning ability into the lesson. When the students are active in the classroom, they learn ten times more of the material they are being taught. On the third NETS-T standard, in today's society, it is important that the teachers teach the students how to be fluent with technology. In today's society, technology is pretty much taking over; so the students, parents and many others need to know how to be fluent with it. I think it is wonderful that teachers have the opportunity to teach this in this day and time. On the fourth NETS-T standard, the importance of not having plagiarism is expressed. All teachers should teach their students the importance of not copying other people's work. If the students absolutely must have to use the other person's work as part of research, then they must cite it in the correct manner. On the fifth NETS-T standard, the teachers should get their students involved in different technology projects around their community. This gives the students the opportunity to show their community what they can do with technology. I think both the students and community members would enjoy doing this. It gives the students the social skills they need, and the community members the opportunity to learn more about technology. I think each one of these standards are wonderful for both the students and the teachers.

Introduction

Hi! My name is Amanda Ginn. I live in Bay St. Louis, MS. I am a Junior here at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park. I transferred from Pearl River Community College with an Associates of the Arts degree. I have a big family which consists of my parents, Rose Marie and Donald, two sisters, Courtenay and Jennifer, my brother-in-law, Brandon, and my Maw-maw, Marie. In my spare time, I love to hang out with my family and friends, watch movies, and dance. At USM Gulf Park, I am studying Elementary Education. I plan on graduating from here with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and then go back to receive my Master's degree. I wish to one day teach either Kindergarten or First grade. I love the younger age group kids because they are eager to learn and fun to be around. At Pearl River Community College, I took a computer class that was required to graduate. I learned new things in there, but I am still not the best with computers. I pretty much know the basics of working a computer. I feel that technology in the classroom is a great thing. With technology in the classroom, the students are able to learn more hands-on and teachers are able to monitor how the children are doing with the assignment. Other technology pieces in the classroom are useful, as well, because it lets the children see different things then just the things inside the textbooks.
